Been wanting to talk about this for a while, cuz I feel like either nobody has any realization of it…or nobody really cares but, lets talk about Artist Beware Pages.
These Pages if you don’t already know, are pages were people go to pretty much report artists who don’t work on commissions, run off with the money, or treat people like shit. Kinda like the Art Equivalent of the FTC. However when you have no real structure or oversight, it quickly turns into the Artist Gestapo. A group of Vigilantes who witch hunt any artists no matter how big, for little to no reason or context.
You say no to someone who asked to make Gay porn, and they will fucking hang your ass for saying no to them. They’ll go on this Pages and make shit up about you, just to get attention and support from completely blind idiots. I’ve had to deal with these pages before in the past and it wasnt pretty. These are hormonally raging 14, 15, and 16 year old kids, just looking to fuck something up….(HEAVY BREATHING FUN SEEKERS.)
One Artist who forgot about a piece that was commissioned just a month earlier had to refund the piece. He admitted to his mistake and apologized for it. However a lot of people on the Draw Horses page wanted to mark this man for dead and ruin his career as an artist. These Blind Artist Witch-hunts are way more common then you might expect, and sometimes they can really effect people lives and livelihood.
Its important to know which artist to trust and which ones to stay away from, but these pages just do more bad then good in the long run. I was put on one of these for not accepting requests and “not talking nicely” to someone, its like some ludicrous shit really. Im not gonna say these pages are Cancer, cuz as it is, Cancer is more curable then then damn pages.
