Been seeing some comments around by people who seem to be confusing referencing and tracing, so I made this handy dandy example of the differences between the two.
This isn’t a personal attack or sarcasm, I have actually seen multiple people refer directly to tracing as “referencing”. I’m assuming they’ve confused the terminology and are defending something they think every artist does (every artist uses references in some way).
I hope this helps people that who may be new to or are confused about these terms.
