What’s the hardest part about being an Artist?

Well…it really depends on the individual…but for me…usually its trying to keep up with expectations from my followers.

Like I look at other artwork from my friends who are infinitely more talented then me, and I know I should not compare my artwork to theirs…but its really hard not to…its really hard not looking at someone else’s work and wishing you were as good as them. Wishing you had the creativity, skills and motivation they have…and sometimes it gets to you…to the point were you just dont want to do anything…..cuz you’re to upset about not being as good as some of these other artists, and it takes its toll on you.

I’ve seen this happen to a lot of people….including me…and its just one of those things you have to deal with on a deeper level. You have to accept that your artwork will most likely never be as good as this other artist, but then you ask yourself a question…

Is trying to be like someone else really what you want?

of course not…

As an artist you have to be….above anything, you have to be yourself. People dont love your art cuz it looks like someone else’s…they love it cuz its yours.

You have to get passed that whole “My art isnt good as theirs” mentality and say “My art is good, cuz it is not like theirs….its different” Now im not saying you should not hate your art, you should always be critical of your own work, even just a bit. If you’re not critical about your work, you’ll never improve as an artist. The day you’re fully 100% content with your art, is the day you stop being an artist…cuz theirs just no point.

Its alright to feel like your art isnt good enough…as long as you dont let that get to your head and ruin whatever love you have for art. Use it as a way to challenge yourself to do better and improve. Im not really sure where im going with this anymore…so ill just stop before I completely side track into Politics or something lol
